Tucson Local Dry Pack Cannery

By Vallee Gold Team • April 20th, 2010

I was able to volunteer my time and labor once a month at a local Tucson dry-pack cannery and distribution center.  The focus for the cannery is to provide food for the needy, assist with emergency preparedness, and supply basic essentials for natural disaster victims. This food cannery is a big proponent  for humanitarian efforts throughout the world.  The cannery supplies the product, anything from flour and sugar to dried beans and peas to soup mixes and powdered milk. My assignment varied each month from tapping the product, filling the cans,  and learning how to run the machine to seal the product.

I am so excited to be a part of this volunteer organization and plan on continuing my community service project for the next few months.
