Economy of the Oro Valley

By Vallee Gold Team • July 25th, 2007

As a regional center for the biotech industry, the Oro Valley is thriving.  The high-tech center of the Valley is called Innovation Park and features both medical and biotech campuses.  Northwest Medical Center-Oro Valley is a 220,000 square foot hospital associated with a 70,000 square foot medical complex right in Innovation Park.  Ventana Medical Systems has its international headquarters in the Park also.  Sanofi-Aventis is the world’s third largest pharmaceutical company and is located in Innovation Park as well.

The Oro Valley itself is the fifth fastest-growing area of all cities and towns within Arizona and maintains a per-capita income over $30,000.  This very diverse community is composed  of white, black, native American, Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino.  Even with this population mix, the Oro Valley has attempted to strike a balance between population growth and environmental preservation.

Presently, the Valley encompasses approximately 35 square miles where you will find an amazing parks system with notable outdoor amenities as well as upscale shopping.

The public school system is one of the highest performing systems in Arizona.
